Dr. Khan Ahmed Iftekhar, the beloved youngest son of Principal Khan Akhtar Hossain and Umme Asma, pursued his academic journey in the field of medicine. This young physician graduated with an MBBS degree from the renowned Delta Medical College in Dhaka in 2025.
However, Dr. Khan Ahmed Iftekhar is not confined solely to academic excellence. Through journalism, writing, and various positive social activities, he has established himself at a unique height at a remarkably young age. Today, he is widely recognized in both the medical community and literary arena as “Dr. Khan Iftekhar.”
Born on June 6, 2000, in Khalishpur, Khulna, this young journalist is currently 26 years old.
His journey into writing began during his school years. From childhood, he showed a deep passion for literature and voluntary social work. While studying in the fifth grade, his first poetry book for children, “Chhoray Bhubon Bhoriye Debo” (I Will Fill the World with Rhymes), was published at the Ekushey Book Fair. Subsequently, four more collections of rhymes authored by him were published, earning appreciation from readers and literary enthusiasts alike.
Dr. Iftekhar began his educational journey at Sunflowers Nursery School in Khalishpur. Later, he enrolled in Bangladesh Navy School and College, Khulna, in the fourth grade, from where he successfully completed both his SSC and HSC examinations.
During his school life, he was an active member of Bangladesh Scouts. Later, during his college years, he served as a Platoon In-Charge and Cadet Sergeant in the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC).
In an exclusive interview, Dr. Khan Iftekhar stated:
“Since childhood, I have always wanted to work for grassroots people. That is why I chose the medical profession. Alongside my studies, I engage in journalism to highlight truth and objective information aimed at bringing positive social change and addressing irregularities in society. Besides academics, I dedicate my time to writing and voluntary organizations. Altogether, Alhamdulillah, it gives me great satisfaction.”
His journey in journalism officially began in 2023 under the guidance of his father. He started working as a Medical Beat Staff Reporter at the national daily Dainik Desh Jagat. Subsequently, he worked with several newspapers and online news portals. He also served for a long period as the Dhaka North City Medical Correspondent for the traditional daily newspaper Dainik Gonokontho.
Currently, he is working as an Online Medical Correspondent for one of Bangladesh’s leading television channels, NTV.
In addition, he is serving as the Assistant Editor (Health) at the national daily Dainik Dhakar Dak. Simultaneously, he is also working as the Deputy Editor of the News Department at the national online news portal Gangchil News.
This visionary young health journalist continues to devote himself to the service of humanity through healthcare. Alongside his noble profession as a physician, he remains actively engaged in health journalism to bring forward authentic information regarding the healthcare sector, the rightful demands and rights of doctors, patients’ concerns and sufferings, as well as various irregularities and injustices within the medical system.
